1 - Spell Shocked by Jenna Rivers
One feisty aunt with talking animals, a surprisingly supernatural lakeside town, and a boatload of magic are all it takes to shake up my midlife.
No one should live day to day just to exist. It only took an invite from a person I’ve never met to a place I didn’t know existed to tempt me to walk…no, run away from everything I knew. How sad is it when I’m the last one to see that my crappy life needs a do-over?
Starting over in my midlife wasn’t exactly the plan. But with the discovery that I actually have an aunt I never knew existed, magic is real, humans can turn into animals, and there might even be a real freaking dragon living in Guardian Lake—I can’t help but hope there has to be a better life waiting for me to choose it.
I’m going to make the rest of my forties fabulous by any means necessary. From here on out, I’m carving my own path in life, choosing my own adventures, and creating my own happy ending.
Once I get the hang of my Charmed Midlife, I intend to never look back!

Our Review -

What a truly captivating tale of rebuilding and overcoming challenges! The world created here is absolutely breathtaking, and the mystery has us eager to find out what unfolds next. The characters are so well-crafted that we're really looking forward to their journeys. It’s an exciting and engaging narrative about fresh starts and uncovering one’s history. We were genuinely intrigued and couldn’t put it down, wanting to learn more about the main character’s past. The way she endured suffering from her husband, who should have cared for her, yet found the strength to confront him was incredibly moving. This relatable story blends in paranormal elements and characters, hinting at even more excitement in future books. We can’t wait for the next installment!
2 - Fair Market Value by Hailey Edwards
Forgot to feed your goldfish before your untimely demise? Need to jot down a will? Say a goodbye? See the Grand Canyon? Then come visit us at The Body Shop, where unfinished business is our business.
Mary Frances Talbot—Frankie—is a necromancer, probably. Hard to say since she never met her parents. She can see the dead, talk to the dead, and a few other things that aren’t strictly legal. It’s fine. No worries. As long as she doesn’t get caught.
The whole not getting caught thing was going well until Samuel Harrow blew back into town wearing a Savannah Police Department uniform. He might be a witch, but he hates magic. He’s not a fan of Frankie either. Which explains why he’s her ex.
When Frankie’s less than legal side gigs result in dead vampires, she knows she’s in trouble. Big trouble. And that’s before Harrow offers to help. With him waving a Get Out of Jail Free card in her face, Frankie doesn’t have much choice but to accept.
But that doesn’t mean she has to forgive. She’ll certainly never forget him breaking her heart or turning her over to the police or... Yeah. They were doomed from the start. Something tells her this investigation will be too.
3 - Secrets of the Forgotten Heir by Heather G. Harris
PI by day, reluctant witch by necessity—Beatrix has a case to crack and a legacy to reclaim.
I walked away from my magic, my past, and the home I was born to protect. For the last decade, I’ve been scraping by as a PI in the non-magical world, solving human problems and ignoring the legacy that should have been mine. My magic is barely worth mentioning—unless you count my menial ability to sense emotions, which is about as useful as a chocolate teapot.

But then my oldest friend breaks into my flat with a desperate plea and I’m suddenly heading back to Witchlight Cove—a hidden magical town on the British coast I swore I’d never see again.

The Eternal Flame, an enigmatic magic that protects the town, has vanished. A ruthless property developer is circling my family home like a vulture. And a poisoning at the village fête proves there’s something far worse lurking in the shadows. If I don’t figure out what’s going on, I’ll lose everything—not just my inheritance, but the only people I’ve ever called family.

With my fiercely loyal retriever by my side, a murder to solve, and a smug, insufferably attractive rival getting under my skin, Witchlight Cove is about to test me in ways I never imagined.

Some legacies can’t be escaped. Some flames refuse to die.

5 - Be Careful What You Witch For by Tee Harlowe
I wish I could escape my past. But when it catches up to me, I don’t get to make the wishes—I have to grant them.

Becoming a widow on my fortieth birthday was not what I had planned.

Even worse? It’s forced me and my teenage daughter back to Whispering Willows and the life of magic I left behind.

I tell myself it’ll be a short trip to sell my mother’s shop of wishes. Until I kind of, sort of bind myself to the shop.

With bills piling up fast, I gotta do something I swore I never would: open shop and start granting wishes, just until I can figure out how to undo this pesky binding spell.

It doesn’t help that the handsome mayor keeps tempting me with those kissable lips. Or that I have to hide from my daughter that magic is real.

I wish I could leave my past behind, but in this line of work, I’ve learned one very important rule: be careful what you wish for.

There she is found by a man who reveals himself to be Loki, and her initial distrust of him transforms into a deep and abiding love.
Their union produces three unusual children, each with a secret destiny, who Angrboda is keen to raise at the edge of the world, safely hidden from Odin’s all-seeing eye. But as Angrboda slowly recovers her prophetic powers, she learns that her blissful life—and possibly all of existence—is in danger.
With help from the fierce huntress Skadi, with whom she shares a growing bond, Angrboda must choose whether she’ll accept the fate that she’s foreseen for her beloved family...or rise to remake their future. While Mayla believes in having chocolates for every occasion, she doesn't believe in magic — at least until coffee cups and windows start exploding in her office. When she suddenly finds herself in a forest on her way home through the city and faces mortal danger, her world turns upside-down.
Thrown into this new reality, she meets a mysterious stranger with hypnotic green eyes who keeps saving her life, and a handsome detective who warns her not to trust him. While her heart draws her to her enigmatic protector, trusting him might be her biggest mistake.
Add a watchful black cat, unexplained explosions, and plenty of chocolate – this magical adventure will keep you spellbound! If you love books with witches, romance, and heart-pounding suspense, don't miss out on this enchanting saga!
